Representative Steve Demetriou is seeking reelection to serve House District 35 and embodies the values of duty, honor, and country. His Northeast Ohio upbringing prepared him for the rigorous standards of West Point, where he graduated in 2011 with Dean’s List honors and a degree in economics, instilling in him a strong sense of ethics and leadership. 

Commissioned as an infantry officer in the United States Army, Rep. Demetriou excelled in his military career, completing Army Ranger School and earning the prestigious Ranger Tab, as well as his jump wings. His service in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom earned him the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement, demonstrating his ability to lead and inspire others under challenging conditions.

Rep. Demetriou has been a proven partner on taxation and spending issues by leveraging his private sector business experience to champion fiscal stewardship. 

Education Freedom 

Additionally, he has been instrumental in supporting AFP-OH’s efforts to expand educational opportunities, including supporting the Backpack Bill.    

Regulation 

Following his military service, Rep. Demetriou ventured into entrepreneurship, successfully growing a small business from three employees to over sixty in just three years. His experience navigating the challenges of business ownership—particularly during COVID-19, civil unrest, and labor shortages—equipped him with a practical understanding of economic resilience and the needs of small businesses. He knows firsthand how government regulations can impact the American Dream.
