WILLOUGHBY–

We closed out the 2021 launch of our Buckeye Blueprint listening tour on a snowy night in Willoughby, Ohio at the VFW Hall. Our local engagement director Angela helped get those in attendance into the Christmas spirit by commissioning some AWESOME Buckeye Blueprint ornaments.

This group threw us a concern that isn’t in the Buckeye Blueprint, but that was consistently heard enough across the room that we needed to talk about it – lack of transparency in government. Many feel their voices are not being heard three hours away in Columbus. Faith in the system working for all people, not just the well connected, is wavering.

Legislation such as State Rep. Derek Merrin’s HB140 would begin to get to the heart of that problem by helping simplify ballot language on local levy issues. It’s a small but significant steps toward helping voters understand the cost of a ballot measure.
