AFP Ohio is proud to announce its endorsement of Cliff Winkel for Ohio House District 52 in the November election.
Cliff Winkel has spent 25 years as a resident of North Ridgeville’s Ward 4, where he currently serves as Chair of City Council’s Finance Committee, a member of the Administrative and Building & Lands Committees, Council Liaison to the Board of Zoning & Building Appeals, and appointed President Pro-Tem. As owner/operator of Wink Electric Inc. and Wink Property Group, two North Ridgeville-based companies, Winkel holds multiple electrical and fire alarm licenses with the State of Ohio and has built his career navigating the real-world costs of regulation on small business owners. He has also volunteered for 24 years coaching youth in his community.
Winkel was tapped by Lorain County Republicans to succeed Nathan Manning as the District 52 candidate after Manning’s appointment to the 9th District Court of Appeals.
Economic Opportunity
As owner/operator of Wink Electric Inc. and Wink Property Group, Winkel has direct experience with the licensing and regulatory burdens small business owners face, and he believes minimizing businesses’ interactions with government red tape is one of the best ways to help them grow. He’s also a clear voice for worker freedom, believing that in the construction industry — where the union-versus-non-union debate comes up constantly — every worker has the right to choose their own path, whether that means joining a union or not.
Energy Abundance
Winkel brings professional expertise as a licensed electrician to Ohio’s energy policy debate, and he’s been direct about the need to build more generation to keep pace with the state’s growth. He believes Ohio’s energy infrastructure needs to be addressed now to ensure its adequate for the future, and he supports streamlining permitting for energy infrastructure like pipelines, power plants, and transmission lines. He also backs building on House Bill 15’s free-market energy reforms, believing every opportunity to make energy more affordable for everyday Ohioans should be taken.
Modernizing Government in Ohio
As Chair of North Ridgeville City Council’s Finance Committee, Winkel has spent years exercising the kind of budget discipline Ohio needs applied at every level of local government to keep property tax bills from spiraling — experience he brings full circle through his work on the Administrative and Building & Lands Committees, as Council Liaison to the Board of Zoning & Building Appeals, and as appointed President Pro-Tem.
